The US Ski and Snowboard Selection events took place in Winter Park Colorado December 15-21, 2017. This event is an international event or FIS event with 4 different countries being represented. Athletes From Australia, Korea, Bermuda, and the US. The selection events are the first opportunity of the season for regional athletes to earn a spot on the US Ski and Snowboard Team, as well as earn a start in the North American world cup events. With this being an Olympic year, this event has an extra amount of importance for many athletes.
Local Bridger Ski Foundation athlete Renner Skidmore had earned a start at this event from results from the prior season. The format at this event was two single mogul events and a dual mogul events.
The single mogul events are judged on a 100 point scale with 60% of your score being turns, and 20% being your time, and the last 20% is based on your jumps. The dual mogul event is a head to head race amongst the best mogul skiers in the nation. The top male and female athlete from all 3 of these events earned starts at the Deer Valley World Cup in Park City Utah on January 10-12, 2018.
