Bridger Ski Foundation Nordic athletes attended the Schutzenski Festival in Soldier Hollow, Utah, for a rainy weekend of roller ski races. Each day consisted of Elite and Open categories, with some of the most well-known names in cross country skiing competing, including Olympic Gold Medalist Jessie Diggins.
BSF PG skiers competed with the elite field both days, showing their speed with 11 results in the top 15. As for Comp Team competitors, Woody West won the open category in both skate and classic races. Kell Christenson raced to two top 5 results, and Clara Wyatt finished second and first respectively in skate and classic.
This was a great opportunity for our skiers to race and compete at a high level early in the season and prepare for the snow. Many other IMD teams attended the event, including Park City, Sun Valley, Bogus Basin, and Team Soldier Hollow. As a coach, it was fun to see how BSF skiers are stacking up after a long summer of training hard, and being in a real race environment is great practice for more competitions this winter. Now we just have to pray for snow! - Julia Hayes, BSF Comp Team Coach
