Mariah Bredal

Hi, my name is Mariah Bredal. I just joined the BSF pro team after finishing 4 years skiing at the University of Utah. Currently, I am still in Salt Lake finishing up one more class until I am officially graduated from college courses with a degree in kinesiology. With my degree I eventually am hoping to go into a nursing program one day! I am originally from Victor, Idaho and have grown up loving running in the mountains and having fun adventures. I am looking very much forward to moving to Bozeman soon, and then training and being a part of the team there!

This summer has been different than most for me. Usually I am enrolled in at least 6 credits for summer school classes and also have my utah and now bsf training buddy and longtime friend Leah with me on the same busy schedule! This year Leah has fully graduated and headed up to Bozeman mostly for the summer while I am still in Salt Lake and finishing up my final class before being officially graduated. She was around for a weekend though so we had an amazing adventure hiking/skiing the glacier on Mt Timpanogos.

So I have been training more on my own than usual this summer, as well as finding other people to get workouts in with. Last summer I got into mountain biking a bit, and an accomplishment of mine this summer has been continuing mountain biking but now with clip pedals! I have taken a few falls due to not getting out of them mostly when coming to a slow stop, but otherwise have found clips to make biking more fun and also enabling me to keep up more with friends to bike with. Additionally taking just one summer class has been very nice, and I have had more time to train as well as relax:) Lately the degrees have begun getting up into the 100s in Salt lake so my training sessions are typically in the earlier and later parts of the day.

I love running in the summers and spent a weekend up home in Idaho to run my second marathon (Teton Dam Marathon) with my dad. For me I beat my first marathon time from two years ago by 15 minutes, with a time of 3:07 which was pretty cool for me. My dad also won his age group which he was happy about.
